Grain Management, an expanding private equity company, commissioned Collective Architecture to take on its expansion with this 7,000 square foot Washington DC headquarters, within a 13-story high-rise building in downtown. Office layout consists of four functions: reception lounge, privet offices/workstations, communal area/pantry/library zone and conferencing function.
Ceiling is designed to outline and feature different zones of the project by openings that expose the concrete deck and all the elements of an open ceiling concept , and light fixtures, that fill in the openings and "connect" vertically with elements on the floor by creating different visual volumes in the space. Vertical surfaces are designed to balance the light ceramic tile floor and white gypsum ceilings with wood textures, black mirrors and gold tiles. Accent colors are brought into the space by textiles in soft furniture elements. Reflective surface bring depth and volume into the space.
